Our Favorite Free Sewing Pattern Resources

Stuck at home, but itching to sew something new? There are so many great online resources. I thought I'd take a moment to share some of our favorite free sewing patterns. Of course, at Hello Stitch we're strong believers in in-person, community sewing, but for times when you're stuck in at home, you might want to indulge in some comfort sewing.

The patterns below are all downloadable as PDF's, so you can print them on your home printer. There is some taping that has to happen, but it's so doable! (Think of it as a jigsaw puzzle that has an end use. 😉) If you've never assembled a PDF pattern before and you're a little intimidated, you can see just how easy it is in one of our earlier blog posts on that subject.

Now to get to the fun stuff - choosing your pattern! Below are just a few of my absolute favorite freebies. You can see more on our Free Sewing Patterns board on Pinterest.

If you're just learning how to sew and need some guidance, or taking some time to take your skills to the next level, there are great online resources for almost anything you might want to learn. Of course, there is always YouTube, but you may also want to consider some of the dedicated learning platforms. Both Creativebug and Bluprint offer free trials, and you can watch as many classes as you want during that time!*

Creativebug is a monthly online subscription platform that is a great value. They have some good beginner options like Sonya Philips Shirt No. 1 class and the Fancy Tiger Sailor Top. Both include the PDF pattern for free - which is a bargain. And studio favorites, Ashley Nickels, Sherri Lynn Wood & Tara Faughnan all have course offerings there as well!

Bluprint has some really good beginner content that is always free, and I really like their Sewing Machine Basics. But they also have more advanced sewing classes that cover tailoring and fitting from industry experts. It's not a pattern based class, but I really enjoyed Angela Wolf's Tailoring Ready to Wear.

Do you have a favorite free pattern? If so, leave us a link below so we can add it to our list as well!
