Pattern Hacks: Add New Elements to Your Patterns

Expand your pattern repertoire by hacking the patterns you already have. Patterns can be expensive and if you have one you already like, then you can learn how to modify it for multiple looks. One of the greatest benefits of learning to sew is that you can change elements of the garment. Don't love the neckline? Want to add pockets? Beth can help you make your perfect handmade wardrobe!

In this class you will learn how to:

• Easily copy your original pattern
• Create a different neckline (round, scoop, V-neckline)make a popover placket top using a button front shirt pattern
• Move darts and change darts to gathers
• Add color-block details
• Combine parts of two patterns into one
• Add pockets

This is a pattern alteration class and will not involve using a sewing machine.

Skill level: Advanced Beginner - Intermediate

Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses.
