About the Event
Have you always wanted to learn how to sew but aren't sure where to start? Or maybe you've had some experience with a sewing machine, but need a refresher? This is the class for you! We will teach you everything you need to know in order to take our Beginner (102) classes.
In this class, we will be making lined canvas tote bags.
You will learn:
-Sewing machine basics
-How to cut use a rotary cutter and ruler
-How to use a basic pattern
-How to cut "on the grain"
-How to make a tote bag
Skill Level: Beginner (101) - You've seen a sewing machine before, but you've never played with one, or if you have given it a try, you'd really love a little extra help to make sure you're doing it correctly.
Supply List: We will provide blue canvas for the outside as well as a choice of either black or natural webbing straps. You bring one yard of cotton fabric for the lining (quilting cotton weight works best).
About the Instructor:
Chelsea Hard made her first quilt perched on the edge of the couch with her sewing machine on the coffee table. Now practicing better ergonomics, she is an avid quilt maker and enjoys all aspects of sewing by both hand and machine. When not purchasing craft supplies she’ll only use once or actively avoiding organizing her studio, she is the President of the South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild and an award winning jam maker. Chelsea currently resides in the East Bay with her two sewing machines.
