Intro to Tailoring: Sew the Jasika Blazer

**This is a 3-Day Workshop, Friday, January 31, 2pm - 6pm, Saturday & Sunday, February 1 & 2, 10am - 5pm.**

Take your sewing skills to the next level in this Intro to Tailoring class with our jacket master, Beth Galvin. Beth has sewn countless jackets for herself and others and will teach you everything you need to know to sew your very own classic blazer.

In this workshop, you will learn to sew the Jasika Blazer by Closet Case using modern techniques and streamlined construction. Spend 3 days with master jacket maker, Beth Galvin, as she demonstrates techniques for making your very own gorgeously tailored jacket. If you wish to sew a men's blazer, you can use Vogue V9262 or Burda Style 6871.

This class will cover:

- Adjusting the pattern for fit

- Where to use interfacings and which ones to choose

- How to sew a crisp collar and smooth pockets

- How to sew a lining

- Grading to give your jacket a polished look

- How to sew a perfect sleeve

- How to make beautiful buttonholes & smooth hems, 

- Tips and tricks for fast sewing with a professional finish

At Hello Stitch, we have all the specialty tools you'll need to get that professional finish you want in a blazer. Don't know what ham has got to do with sewing? You will by the end of class! 

You will get 16 hours of supervised instruction and sewing time as well as 6 additional studio hours to work on your project. We will have Happy Hour nibbles on Friday evening and lunch, snacks, tea and coffee will be provided on Saturday and Sunday.

You've got it down! You've been sewing for awhile and you have a pretty good handle on the basics. You're looking to delve into more advanced techniques and work on advancing your skill set.

Supply List: The Jasika Blazer pattern is not included in the cost of this class and will need to be purchased separately. If you already own a blazer pattern that you would like to use, send us an email to see if it would fit into this course. We will send you a complete supply list, including fabric recommendations once you've registered for class.

You may not finish your project during class time, but don’t fret! You are invited to stay and sew at the studio until 8pm each day of class.

About the instructor: 

Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses. She has a popular sewing blog, Sunnygal Studio where she shares her tips and tricks and she also blogs for Craftsy. Beth loves to help people get the pattern they love to fit the way they want. She is brilliant at adding stylish little details that make your projects look professional and special, but what's even better is that she has figured out how to make it easier! One of her favorite things is to teach you the tips and shortcuts that will make your sewing faster and also more fun.
