Sew your own basic t-shirt! This wardrobe staple is remarkably easy to make once you've learned the basics of sewing with knits from our expert garment instructor, Beth Galvin. She will help you get the perfect T-shirt so you can make one for every day of the week!

We love the Closet Core T-Shirt, the pattern is free, and it's a good basic t-shirt in a unisex style that fits many figures. The Rio Ringer T-Shirt by True Bias is another basic tee. If you're more curvy, you may prefer to go with the stylish Concord T-shirt from Cashmerette. If you want a tee with a little more detail, you could pick the Tarif Tee from French Navy. For a t-shirt designed for men, we recommend the Strathcona Henley by Thread Theory.

This class will cover:

- Choosing your correct size

- Pattern adjustments

- Proper fabric cutting and marking

- Tips and tricks for sewing with knits

Skill level: ✂️✂️

You aready know how to thread and use a sewing machine. You're ready to learn how to work with knits.

Supplies: The requirements for fabric and notions you need will come with the pattern you purchase. You will receive a supply list when you sign up.

Sewing Machines: If you would like to use one of the sewing machines at Ace Makerspace (we highly recommend this for beginng sewists) please select the Use Ace Machine ticket. If you are comfortable and would like to use your own sewing machine please select the Use My Machine ticket. DO NOT purchase a Use My Machine ticket if you don't have a machine, it isn't working properly or you aren't comfortable operating it. We don't have extra machines you can use. If we have sold out of Use My Machine tickets, and you want to use your own machine, you may purchase a Use Ace Machine ticket.

About the instructor:

Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses. She has a popular sewing blog, Sunnygal Studio where she shares her tips and tricks and she also blogs for Craftsy. Beth loves to help people get the pattern they love to fit the way they want. She is brilliant at adding stylish little details that make your projects look professional and special, but what's even better is that she has figured out how to make it easier! One of her favorite things is to teach you the tips and shortcuts that will make your sewing faster and also more fun.
